About Me

My true passions are cooking, gardening, knitting. Knitting? Yup, stay with me. I love to cook and bake; always have; cookies, pies, sweets & treats, soups or smoothies, appy’s & entrees, I love food. And I love sharing the stories and recipes that go along with them.

I also have a backyard garden, since there’s just nothing better than cooking with fresh ingredients. I’ll tell you a secret though…I have a love/hate relationship with that garden. One day it’s my peaceful, happy place and the next…well…that’s for another blog post!😉

Before I forget, I adore coffee, music, black & white photography, laughter, classic cocktails & wine, my warm-hearted, always keeping-me-guessing family, and of course – God! So you’ll certainly see these subjects sprinkled throughout my posts.

One last thing, I forgot to mention the bows. I’ve been told I might have an unhealthy obsession with ribbon. From hairbows to holiday decorations… stand still long enough in my home, and you’ll probably end up with a bow attached!

PS – Where did ‘Steeyn come from? Well, when my nephew 1st started talking, he dubbed me “Aunt Steen”. We have no idea why. Maybe it was just shorter and easier for him. Who knows what goes through the mind of a toddler. Anyway, we all thought it was adorable and now over 30 years later…I’m still Aunt Steen! Many family members have taken to the nickname and truthfully, I’ve grown quite fond of it. So, that’s where it comes from… Simply ‘Steeyn. Oh…and I added the “y” because I like it! I hope you do too!
